With our country on quarantine for the corona virus, I’ve seen a lot of people reaching out to connect and help others. But one person is standing out in my mind today, and that is my daughter’s teacher.
Not only has she called to check in on us and give a special message of encouragement to my daughter, but she sends me a quick message if we overlooked any assignments for the day, because honestly, sometimes I can’t tell if we got all the work done.
Plus, her teacher has had some video calls with the class, which just made my daughter’s day! She loved getting to connect with her classmates and teacher in real time, catch up with them, and even show her friends our tiny dog. My daughter’s teacher has also offered to host calls over spring break. I love how she has gone above and beyond!
She has gracefully demonstrated care, patience, and kindness to our family.
I know how much work it might be for her. As a children’s ministries director, I have kids that I’ve been trying to stay connected with, too, while providing resources for them as a family during their time at home.
So thank you, my dear daughter’s teacher. And thank you to all the other teachers, youth workers, and ministry directors doing similar things with their students. You have no idea how much we as parents appreciate it!
What about you? Where have you seen or experienced encouragement in your own life?
